Entice Your Audience with Window Graphics You Can Be Proud of!

A dull and lifeless store front can be overlooked on a vibrant high street full of competitive retailers. If your goal is to attract customers, in particular new ones, then you need to stand out from the crowd. In this modern and digital era where shoppers don’t have time to head into every shop on the high street, bright signs and lights often won’t cut it alone. You need to be creative to grab a customer’s attention and convey what your business offers effectively.

Window graphics are the perfect solution to bring your store windows to life and show off your brand personality to existing and potential customers. Below are a few key things to think about when planning your store window graphics!

5 things to consider:

1. Initial Appearances

Your store front is the first point of judgment your audience will make. Appearances matter – a bland store front will go unnoticed on a busy high street! Be memorable for your customers, and attract new ones with creative and impactful designs to convey exactly what you have to offer.

2. Brand Awareness

Standing out and being distinguishable as a brand is vital on an overcrowded high street, your store front needs to grab the attention of your audience as well as reinforce your brand status. A bland store front says nothing about who you are or what you have to offer, but an eye-catching display will turn heads and help you to build important brand recognition.

3. Create Curiosity

Fully or partially covered store windows increases curiosity. If passers-by notice an impressive window display, but can only see part of what you have on offer, this can make them more likely to head inside to see what is available. Use this tactic to draw consumers in, making sure they won’t be disappointed once inside.

4. Versatility & Changeability

Window graphics are a great way to keep your store front looking fresh & new. You can create seasonal campaigns, promote new offers and advertise new stock around the summer and festive months. Window graphics need to be easy to change, so we offer a range of materials that are easy to install and remove, without leaving behind any damage or sticky residue.

5. Cost Effective

Window graphics are a cost effective way of transforming your store front, using slogans and full-colour imagery enables you to clearly display the products or services you offer, as well as advertising additional information such as current promotions and discounts. But, be aware of inexpensive materials that can end up incurring large clean up costs.

How to Combine Print with Your Digital Marketing Campaigns!

In a digital focused era, marketers need to make sure they stand out from the crowd. The most successful companies are now combining the personal nature of print with the technological innovations of digital marketing. Below we have suggested ways in which you can do this:

QR Codes

QR Codes are a type of two-dimensional barcode that can be read using a QR barcode reader or camera-enabled smartphone that direct users to a website or to take a specific course of action, they are a unique way to provide your customers with new content that is relevant and engaging. QR Codes are extremely versatile as they can be added to just about anything such as; posters, packaging, banners, direct mail and much more. This means that any printed media can be turned into a customer interaction point, taking them to an information page, show them a message, carry out a payment and endless other possibilities.

Hashtags

Adding hashtags to your print advertisement is a simple way of encouraging interaction with your campaign. Using keywords, phrases or slogans can create a buzz around your campaign on social media, whilst also increasing engagement with your brand.

Call to Actions (CTA)

A print advertisement with “Check us out!” will not cut it nowadays. Customers need a reason to click on a link or scan a QR code and with an explanation of what will be gained. Effective and innovative print marketing will provoke specific responses from audiences that encourage them to actively interact with your brand. A great example of combining print with digital is encouraging your audience to use your advertisement as a backdrop for a photo opportunity, with the CTA of ‘tweet a picture of you with this advertisement to receive 10% off your next order’.

Personalised URLs

Adding personalised URL’s to your printed materials is a great way to monitor customer activity, to see who you’re attracting and where from. Personalised URL’s are 40% more likely to be clicked on than a normal shortened URL mainly due to customers trusting the link more if it has a recognisable name in it.

The Difference Between CLINGZ and Static Cling Vinyl (SCV).

We’ve been distributing our innovative material CLINGZ since 2005 and have discovered that there are some things that people don’t realise about them.

  • CLINGZ is NOT THE SAME as static cling vinyl. Static cling vinyl will only stick to smooth or glossy surfaces and is usually used on glass facing out. CLINGZ will stick on BOTH sides to virtually any surface.
  • Static cling vinyl is a PVC based product (bad) whereas, CLINGZ is made from polypropylene and is recyclable (good).
  • CLINGZ is really easy to apply whereas, static cling vinyl usually requires wet application.
  • CLINGZ is damage free on removal whereas static cling vinyl often leaves ink on the glass or surface.
  • CLINGZ is available in white and clear.
  • CLINGZ can be die cut and kiss cut.
  • CLINGZ can be printed in a variety of ways such as; litho for volume orders, Indigo for variable data or multiple designs or wide format digital for large sizes, one-offs or short runs.
  • CLINGZ is available in rolls up to 1372mm wide and can be printed by any length.
  • CLINGZ is also available on a versaliner. This is a full contact backer and makes running sheets easier (when printing offset litho), but is great for clients that wish to insert the finished CLINGZ into envelopes or magazines.
  • We are the EXCLUSIVE distributor of CLINGZ in the UK and Eire.

POS Advertising in Cold Conditions

The challenge:

We have many clients who face the challenges of advertising in cold conditions for instance; in frozen food stores/supermarkets for application to the inside and outside of freezer windows and doors. Many factors affect what can and can’t be placed in these locations such as; lack of space, temperature, draughts etc. Many materials are not heat or humid resistant meaning that once left in a location exposed to these factors, the adhesive would melt leaving residue on removal.

This means many marketers are missing out on vital advertising opportunity as fridge and freezer doors in supermarkets are often left free from pos advertising as they don’t have a solution that can be placed in extreme low and high temperatures whilst still remaining damage free and residue free on removal.

Our solution:

Advertising in fridge freezers and doors is a great location to try and reach your target audience.

Our high performance, low tack film graphic ADTAC is perfect for use on the inside and outside of freezer doors. ADTAC has an advanced coating which enables easy to apply, bubble-free installation that can be repositioned and reused.

ADTAC is a perfect solution for instore POS campaigns in cooler environments. ADTAC has high adhesion properties meaning it is ideal for when something a little more robust is required, especially when the graphics will be exposed to cold temperatures and draughts. Its easy to apply, damage free and bubble free nature means store staff can apply the graphics themselves, saving costs and time on no expert installation.

Successes with ADTAC:

COOK Stores, the frozen food specialists, rely on POS advertising throughout their UK stores. Have you ever walked down the frozen aisle of a supermarket and noticed none, or very little POS advertising? So, finding a damage-free and easy to remove graphic allows them to optimise every available selling space – most importantly, the freezers! COOK Stores now regularly use ADTAC for seasonal POS campaigns. ADTAC is easily removed, repositionable and most importantly, reusable! You can replace the backer on the graphics and keep them for your annual seasonal campaigns.

Take a look at our Website and Instagram page for further inspiration on how we can help you transform your POS campaigns!

What Do Colours Say About Your Brand

It’s commonly known that colour can have a psychological effect on people’s emotions and decisions. That’s why when choosing the colour(s) for your brand it should be carefully considered, because as they always say, first impressions count!

Due to colours provoking different emotions, using the correct colours for your branding is a great way of illustrating your company values to your target audience. For example; blue is the most commonly used colour amongst brands – especially within the finance and technology sector as it holds connotations of security and trustworthiness.

A study of the world’s top 100 brands found these were the most popular colours for brand logos were;

  • 33% use Blue
  • 29% use Red
  • 28% use Black or Greyscale
  • 13% use Yellow or Gold

So, what do these colours imply about your brand?

Red  Energetic, Attention Grabbing, Direct

Purple Royalty, Sophistication, Nostalgia

Blue   Trustworthy, Secure, Responsible

Green  Wealth, Prestige, Health

Yellow       Positivity, Creativity, Motivation

Orange  Playful, Vitality, Excitement

Brown  Earthlike, Natural, Durable

Black         Sophistication, Value, Timelessness

White        Pure, Clean, Professional

Grey          Dependable, Formal, Elegant

Various colours are favoured by different sectors and age groups. When choosing a brand colour, it is important to consider your target audience and the brand values that you wish to convey or reinforce. Supposedly, 80% of the information we receive from a logo comes from the colours contained within it. So, choose wisely!

Richard Barber & Co is a commercial property marketing services company with over 40 years’ experience in the industry. They market properties using a variety of platforms for a major property developer.

Challenge: Richard Barber & Co required a material to use on the walls of the office as their clients wanted to brighten up empty office space to make it look more appealing to potential customers. The material needed 3 key attributes, it needed to be; easy to apply, easy to remove, and 100% damage free so they could take off the graphics without leaving any damage.

Print Media is a Crucial Part of Your Marketing Mix

In today’s digital era, there is far more competition from brands to catch audience’s attention online than ever before. However, the amount of content available to audiences is growing far more rapidly than they have time for. It can be difficult to differentiate between what marketers consider as ‘noise’ and valuable content.

Print marketing covers a whole range of solutions such as posters, direct mail, magazines, banners and much more. As a company that specialises in unique printable materials we see first-hand how much impact print marketing can have and see why our clients keep coming back to us.

Here are reasons why print can help you stand out:

  • Print has longevity – An email or an internet ad will disappear into the cyber world almost instantly whereas, a piece of print may be kept for days, weeks or even years. Printed products provide long lasting brand or product reminders even after a potential prospect has left the company.
  • Print helps you reach your target audience – The design and placement of ads is vital to a successful campaign. Print can be positioned in unusual, eye-catching places where they cannot fail to be seen.
  • Print is tangible – In a digital world, consumers still enjoy receiving, touching or holding something physical, as oppose to seeing it on screen.
  • Print is engaging – When individuals read online, they tend to skim for about 15 seconds. Whereas when a piece of print is placed in your hand you engage with it for a longer period of time and it tends to remain in your memory for longer.
  • Print is trustworthy – Consumers can trust print advertisements, there is no danger associated with reading or looking at print, whereas with digital alternatives there is always the possible risk of viruses or spam.
  • Less print, means more for you – If fewer companies are creating print campaigns, there is much more space available for your messages to be seen!

Top 10 Tips When Visiting an Exhibition

  1. Pre-Register – There is nothing worse than arriving at an exhibition and having to stand in a queue for ages before even entering.
  2. Plan Ahead – Research the companies attending and look at what they offer. The more time and effort you put into the show, the more you will get out of it.
  3. Set Objectives – Know what you want to achieve by attending an exhibition.
  4. Request A Floor Plan – Most exhibitions provide a floor plan in advance so you can organise your route of the show.
  5. Book An Appointment – At most exhibitions you’re able to book appointments with businesses and organisations who are particularly interested in talking to. Pre-book an appointment to make sure you get all your questions answered.
  6. Make Notes – When you visit an exhibition, it is extremely difficult to remember every stand, seminar, talk and workshop you visit. Making notes will save time when following up with companies and individuals you have met.
  7. Take Business Cards – Take plenty of business cards however, hand them out cautiously. You don’t want to be receiving follow up calls and emails off hundreds of people.
  8. Take A Break – Visiting an exhibition is a tiring process, so sit down and have a rest. Review what you have achieved so far and what there still is to do.
  9. Collect Samples – Pick up plenty of samples but, don’t weigh yourself down with unnecessary leaflets and samples. You can always request samples to be sent to you by post.
  10. Freebies – At all exhibitions there will be fantastic freebies on offer and chances to win amazing prizes. Don’t be afraid to visit each stall, you never know what they may be giving away.

Die-cut vs. Kiss-cut!

We have a number of clients who have expressed their confusion about the meaning of ‘die-cut’, ‘kiss-cut’ and ‘trim to size’ therefore, we thought we would try to help explain.

‘Die-cut’ is where graphics are cut into a shape, by cutting through both the material and the backer.

‘Kiss-cut’ however, is the process of lightly cutting round the borders of the graphic without cutting through the backer.

‘Trim to size’ simply means straight cut to a standard shape – rectangular or square.

Glow in the Dark CLINGZ

At Think Ambient we combine an encyclopedic knowledge of unique printable materials with an in-depth knowledge of print processes to come up with innovative solutions that most people will tell you aren’t possible.

Pushing the boundaries comes naturally to us and that’s why we love it when our customers come to us with a really challenging brief.

A perfect illustration of this can be seen above. Our client set us the objective of creating a project idea that was not only completely new and different but also allowed them to communicate multiple messages simultaneously in an engaging and unique way.

Our creative juices immediately began to flow as we flung one idea after another back and forth but (to save you the anguish of our late night coffee-fueled sessions spent testing and persevering) we’ll skip right to the solution…

GLOW IN THE DARK CLINGZ – luckily the genius of this innovation made the heartache all worth it. Glow in the dark CLINGZ has the potential to be the perfect solution to almost any campaign brief however our client used it for a guerrilla marketing campaign they were undertaking of behalf of Converse and Adidas

CLINGZ were placed in various locations throughout a number of cities in Germany. During daylight hours the light absorbent inks were able to ‘charge’ themselves, then as soon as night had fallen the GITD inks sprang into action.

The unique beauty of this campaign? If you look closely at the converse CLINGZ at the top of the page you will be able to see that they were created to display different messages at night to what they did during the day. How many printed posters can add a talent like that to their CV?

If you take a look at our case studies you will hopefully see that, for Think Ambient, this isn’t just a one off. We live and breatheinnovative and engaging campaign ideas, and not just because we hopefully get to shout about them afterwards!

Add an Extra Dimension to Your Campaign!

How to Make Sure Your Next Print Campaign is a Success

It’s well known that in order for any marketing campaign to be a success it must be concise, well designed and targeted at a clearly segmented demographic group. That’s why at Think Ambient we’re not looking to re-create existing content, already available from a wide variety of sources across the internet. Our sole focus is on our area of expertise; how to use innovative, damage free graphics to drive high level campaign engagement.

In our opinion, there are a couple of key questions you need to ask yourself in order to develop a truly effective print campaign:

WHERE WILL IT RECEIVE THE GREATEST ENGAGEMENT?

Although this may seem like a relatively simple question, when you delve into the world of versatile, damage free graphics the possibilities become endless. Damage free signage can be applied to a multitude of surfaces, often where other media cannot be used, including walls, windows, mirrors, computer screens, table tops, toilet cubicles, lift doors, exhibition stands and even roofs.

If your target audience are university students, you can amplify your message by placing it wherever it might be seen: in lecture rooms, bar areas, student residences and communal bathrooms. If you’re a retailer posters can be used on display stands but also on white goods and electronic goods, turning every space into a marketing opportunity.

DOES IT NEED TO BE DAMAGE FREE?

Again, the first thing you may think when you read the question above is “there’s nothing complex to consider when deciding whether or not graphics need to be damage free”. In our experience the opposite is true, the type of posters chosen can have a far reaching impact on a projects return on investment (ROI)

Believe it or not, the quality to cost payoff is one of the most fascinating aspects of buying print for marketing campaigns. In general, the initial outlay required to purchase easy to apply, damage free, versatile graphics is larger than that of standard alternatives such as self adhesive vinyl. However, standard alternatives usually have two implicit costs that campaign managers may fail to consider:

  1. Time – our interaction with lower quality alternatives to premium damage free graphics has taught us three things: they are more difficult and take longer to apply, take longer to remove and in many cases take longer to clean up after (whether it is window residue, damaged paint or torn graphics).
  2.  Compliance – Freelancer? Franchiser? Global Event Manager? If you’re not applying the graphics yourself, the more difficult they are to apply, the less likely they are to be applied at all. To put it simply, if your graphics are never applied then your ROI is zero.

On balance, our personal experience has taught us that the implicit costs associated with lower quality materials ensure that, in the long run, they receive a much lower ROI compared to their higher quality and more versatile alternatives.

WHERE DO I START?

If your project has a sufficient lead time our recommendation is:

  1. Speak to an expert
  2. Request Samples
  3. TEST THEM
